Lit Love Read is a statewide literacy initiative led by NWRESA as part of Georgia’s Let’s READ campaign, designed to build strong readers through intentional daily read-alouds at school and home.

Chick Chain Project -Do you want to raise your own chickens? This project is for students from Pre-K - 12th Grade The Chick Chain is a program where each student will receive a minimum of 6 chicks to raise throughout the summer. They will keep up with costs and take pictures along the way. At the end of the project the student will bring their best three birds and a project board to the Polk county fair to be judged. We will auction off the three birds and you will keep the remaining birds. The meeting and informational class will be held at RHS ag facility 990 Cartersville Hwy on February 10th at 6:00pm. During the class you will learn about basic care, breeds, and more about the project. We hope to see you all there! For more information call Chris Jones Young Farmer Teacher 770-314-6623

4th Grade Presents Pajama Day! Friday, Feb. 6th It costs $5 per student must pay by Thursday 5th.

WEATHER UPDATE: Polk School District will open with a two-hour delayed start on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. The additional time will ensure our buses and facilities are fully operational and warm. This means all bus routes, school openings, and start times will be shifted forward by 2 hours from their regularly scheduled times. For example, a 7:00 AM bus pickup will now be a 9:00 AM pickup, etc. There will be no change in dismissal procedures.

Please ensure all students are dressed warmly for tomorrow's frigid temperatures. Wear layers, hats, gloves, and scarves.

We appreciate your continued understanding and support as we take these precautions to ensure the safety of our students and staff during these extreme cold conditions.

With the possibility of winter weather this weekend, we want to be prepared just in case. Students will bring home assignments on Friday for Tuesday, should weather conditions prevent schools from opening. Thank you for partnering with us, and we hope everyone has a safe, cozy, and warm weekend!
