📣 Important Update for Polk School District Parents & Guardians 📣
In alignment with Georgia HB 340 and HB 1009, Polk School District is committed to fostering a distraction-free learning environment where our students can focus, engage, and succeed.
To support this goal, a new policy regarding personal electronic devices will take effect at the beginning of the 2026–2027 school year. All K-12 students must keep their personal electronic devices in a designated storage area (determined by school administration) from the first bell until the last bell.
This policy includes, but is not limited to:
📱Cell phones
⌚Smartwatches
📱Tablets
🎧Earbuds & Headphones
💻 Other devices capable of wireless communication, internet access, messaging, video recording, gaming, social media access, or data transmission.
🚌 Note: This rule also applies to all students while riding school buses.
We appreciate your partnership in helping our students stay focused on their education. Please be aware that any violations of this policy will result in disciplinary action as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct.

Pre-k enjoyed celebrating Cinco de Mayo! Thanks to Gil at El Coyote for donating the chips and salsa.❤️😋

Announcement regarding the After-School Program: The last day for After-School will be May 15.

April 30 is Poem in your Pocket Day in recognition of National Poetry Month. Everyone is encouraged to carry a poem around all day. The poem may be one you copied out or an original you want to share. Fold it regular or using origami. Share your poem with friends and family throughout the day. For students and staff at Eastside, poems are available in the cafeteria.

Today the school cheered on our athletes before they departed to compete in the Polk County Special Olympic Games. These Olympians will compete in different games and events along with students from around the county.

Pre-k enjoyed learning about Earth Day ! They enjoyed planting grass seeds, creating their handprints on the Earth Mural, sorting items that can be recycled, and creating their own dirt cups for snack.

4th Grade Earth Day Fun. We made "Earth Day Grass Pets" and had an extremely productive day cleaning up our campus. They were so happy to clean up and to show that trash collection! Good job! 👏🏼

Congratulations to our winner of the Field Day Shirt design, Nyla Thompson! Everyone is invited to wear their wild shirts at Field Day on May 14.

Attention Pre-K families: Please join us for a night of information at the upcoming transition meeting on April 23, at 5:30pm. Kindergarten teachers will be here to cover information regarding kindergarten life. Participants will also receive a gift with materials to help prepare your child for the new school year. We look forward to seeing you next week and appreciate your involvement and collaboration.
