Special Assistance Alternative Community Eligibility Provision PUBLIC MEDIA RELEASE NATIONAL SCHOOL LUNCH/SCHOOL BREAKFAST PROGRAMS School Year 2024-2025 By participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) and eliminating the need for meal applications, Polk School District will reduce administrative and printing costs. Families also benefit from the elimination of completing and submitting meal applications. Children need healthy meals to learn. Polk School District offers healthy meals every school day at no charge to your child(ren). Our food service receives support from the U.S. Department of Agriculture through the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs. Van Wert Elementary School Please Help Us Welcome Mr. Kevin Hall as an exceptional students teacher at Van Wert. My name is Kevin Hall. I played football and completed my undergraduate degree from Shorter University 13 years ago in Computer Information Systems with a Minor in Education. I have worked since then as a Technology Specialist in Floyd County Schools, but decided it was time to finish my teaching certification and start serving my community as a Special Education teacher. I will graduate with my Master's in December. I enjoy spending time being active with my wife and 3-year old daughter. I can't wait to get started.

Van Wert Elementary School Please Help Us Welcome Melissa Willis as an exceptional students teacher at Van Wert. Excited to be starting a new teaching experience with all of you at Van Wert! I come from Sawnee Elementary in Forsyth County, Georgia, where I spent the last 12 years teaching Special Education, IRR. Married to the best husband ever, Jay. We have two awesome, grown-up children, Hunter and Kendel, and our pup, Allie. Prior to teaching I put my Business/Marketing degree to use while also staying home some with our littles. Once I began subbing and then moved into a para role, I knew I wanted to be an educator.

Van Wert Elementary School Please Help Us Welcome Sonia Brownlow to Van Wert Elementary School as our ESOL teacher. Hello, my name is Sonia Brownlow. I am very excited to be the ESOL teacher at Van Wert Elementary! This will be my 11th year teaching and my first year teaching ESOL. I have taught pre-k, 1st grade, and 2nd grade. I worked as a pre-k paraprofessional for five years while working on my teaching degree. I graduated from Shorter University in 2013 with a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education. When I am not at school, I love spending time with my family enjoying the outdoors. I also enjoy watching sports, especially Georgia Tech and Falcons football and Atlanta Braves baseball.

I graduated from the University of West Georgia, recently adding my Specialist in Special Education. My husband and I moved to Rockmart 10 years ago. We have two girls, who currently attend Rockmart schools. I am so excited to join the Eastside family! I am passionate about giving everyone a voice to have the freedom to express themselves.

I have served students at all grade levels (15 years-elementary, 4 years-middle and 4 years-high school). I am blessed with a wonderful husband named Mike who works for Delta Airlines. Our 21 year old son, Daylan, is currently stationed in Japan with the US Navy. In our free time, we enjoy camping and traveling the world.
