Third grade is beginning a new unit starting with rounding. We made color coded number lines to visualize our numbers and then used them to problem solve. We also practiced estimating and rounding with a jumping jacks competition.

3rd Grade did an experiment learning about temperature today. "A Whole Lot of Shaking Going On!" We determined if the temperature of the sand increased after shaking it.

Megan Smith was recognized as the Eastside Elementary Teacher of the Year at the Polk School District Board Meeting last night. We are honored to have Mrs. Smith represent Eastside. She is committed to each student's learning and makes her students feel loved and valued. Congratulations, again, to Mrs. Megan Smith!

Congratulations to the winner and participants in the 2023 - 2024 Spelling Bee! Brantley Wolfe will represent Eastside in the Polk School District Bee and Addylyn Robinson will serve as the alternate.

2nd Grade enjoyed a field trip to the Dallas Theater to watch the production of "FrankenSTEM". After the play, they enjoyed lunch at White Oak Park. It was a great day!

Some of our 1st through 5th grade students recently participated in the Teach Me Tennis Program. These students took part in six practice sessions after school and then competed in the Teach Me Tennis Tournament on November 5, 2023. Shout out to Mrs. Malin Evans who gave of her time to share her knowledge and love of the game with these students.

The Vocabulary Parade was a smashing success. Our 5th graders showed great creativity.
