Pre-k Fun in Ms. Morris' and Mrs. Brinkley's Class!❤️

Hands-on learning in Pre-k.
(Ms. Morris' Class)❤️

First grade enjoyed learning about light and sound with Dr. Bob.

Our AMAZING Kindergarten and First grade students have been working on improving their locomotor skills (walking, running, jumping, hopping, galloping, sliding, skipping, and marching) in P.E class. Over the last two weeks, each student earned a LOCOMOTOR LEARNERS LICENSE (Kindergarten) or a LOCOMOTOR LICENSE (First Grade).
Great job to our Second and Third Graders! They were very engaged during our NINJA JUMP ROPE CHALLENGE. Students worked to achieved each level of the challenge by jumping rope a consecutive number of times. Students signed off on levels 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 75, and 100 as they were achieved.
Way to Go! Fourth and Fifth Grade students practiced their listening skills and improving reaction time during our P.E. Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Bag (Bean Bag) Challenge. Students paired up with a bean bag on the floor between partners. Students listen to and follow directions called out by teachers to put their hands on their own head, shoulders, knees, and toes. If students heard “bag”, they quickly grabbed the bean bag. Students enjoyed the challenge. New partners were assigned after a few rounds of the game.

IMPORTANT UPDATE!
Based on the winter weather advisory for our area that extends throughout the evening into morning hours, Tuesday, January 16, will be a Learn-from-Home day for Polk School District. Please refer to communication channels from your student’s respective school/teacher for guidance and expectations regarding assignments. Thank you for your continued understanding and partnership. Stay safe and warm!

Reminder: All forms for Lunch with Loved Ones are due tomorrow, January 12. In order to be able to place orders for lunch, money and forms must be submitted together.
We can't wait to see you for lunch!

Starting tomorrow, students will have the opportunity to purchase school supplies in the library from 8:00 until 8:30 each Thursday morning. Items include pencils, pens, erasers, pencil grips, and earbuds and range in price from 25 cents to 2 dollars.
Proceeds from the sale of school supplies will support the library programs and help purchase additional new books.

On this Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, Eastside would like to recognize a special officer, Carey Atkins. Officer Carey works hard to patrol the halls, keep us safe, and loves these kids. He has even been known to slip a ring pop or sour straws to someone having a rough day. We are so thankful for his advice, his friendship, and his heart for the kids.

IMPORTANT! Based on conversations with our Local Emergency Management office regarding the potential for severe weather tomorrow, Tuesday, January 9, including flash flooding and high wind gusts, Polk School District is delaying school two hours to allow our bus drivers/riders and student drivers to navigate their daily routes in the daylight. We apologize for any inconvenience but will always make decisions in the best interest of our students and staff, keeping safety our first priority. Thank you for continuing to support us in our efforts.
Time Change Examples include:
If your bus picks you up at 6:45 on a normal school day, they will pick you up at 8:45.
If you normally drop your child off at 7:15, you will drop off at 9:15.
If the tardy bell rings at 7:35 daily, it will ring at 9:35. Dismissal times will remain the same.
