We are starting a Math Fact Challenge for November and December. Information is coming home today. Every activity students complete at home, will earn students a ticket for a drawing. We will be giving away 2 bikes with this challenge. Math fluency is very important and students learning their math facts fluently is so important to being a successful student. We hope this challenge will improve our students' skills.

Tickets are on sale now for our Christmas Musical. They are $8 now and $10 at the door. We are so excited for you to see our Prek, Kindergarten, First and Second Grade students show off all their hard work. You may purchase tickets at the post QR code, the following link: https://qrco.de/bfVLeh, or in person at the Cedartown Performing Arts Center. If you have any questions feel free to contact Mrs. Kaila Chivers at kaila.chivers@polk.k12.ga.us

YGES Fall Festival is November 7th. See the flyer below for more information.

We will be having a Parent/Teacher Conference day on November 11, 2024 from 10 am to 6 pm. Letters will be sent home this week about this date. Please respond by completing the letter and sending it back to your child's teacher. We look forward to discussing all of the wonderful things your child is accomplishing at Youngs Grove Elementary School.

Help us, help others. We will be doing a can food drive for our community from October 28 - November 22. Students can bring canned food items to school to turn in to help. The classroom with the most donations will receive a reward at the end of the food drive.

Our Veterans Day program is November 8th at 9:00. We would love for all of our Veterans and their families to attend. If your child has a special part, they will bring a paper home with that information. Students will also bring home the paper to add your veteran to our slide show. If Mrs. Frady had your information last year, she still has it.

Our faculty, staff and students are so thankful for our administrators! We love and appreciate you!

We have some exciting plans at The Grove for October 31st. Our 2nd and 3rd graders have been learning about characters and character traits in books and stories. Their teachers are sending home more info on this, but 2nd and 3rd grade students will be dressing up as their favorite character from a story or book. Students will be walking in a character parade throughout the school at 8:45. Parents of 2nd and 3rd grade students are invited to come for this event.
Since it is Halloween, we will allow all students to dress up this day, however, please make sure costumes are school appropriate. No masks or accessories are allowed unless the child is in 2nd and 3rd grade as part of the parade. Those will be allowed for the parade only, then tucked away in backpacks.
We hope to see some of you as we celebrate the learning about characters and character traits by our students. For those in the other grades, no worries, we have some special events coming up for each grade level for you to come visit. More info will be coming out as those events draw near.

We have started selling Chick Fil A Biscuits again on Wednesday mornings as students enter the building. The biscuits are $4 each. Please send $4 with your child if they would like to purchase one. Thank you.

October 22-25 is Red Ribbon Week. Please see the attached flyer for anyone who wants to participate in next week's dress up days.

Congratulations to our classroom Spelling Bee winners! These students will compete in our school Spelling Bee. The winner of the school Spelling Bee will compete at the district level.

October is National Principals' Month. We would like to celebrate our amazing leader, Mrs. Kirsch! She supports and encourages our teachers and students each day. Thank you for your dedication and exceptional leadership!

Congratulations to our TOP 10 Reading Map Scores in each grade level. We are super proud of you! Keep up the great work.

We had a huge Storybook Pumpkin Patch last year. Our students loved it! Go ahead and have your child start thinking about who they want to create this year. If you are unable to decorate a real pumpkin, ask your child to see Mrs. Frady. She will give them a paper pumpkin and they can decorate it like a storybook character. We will display those on our circulation desk.

Congratulations to Luke, Melanie and Samiyah. They completed our September Monday Reading Challenge and their names were drawn to win prizes.

Tomorrow is our Academic Pep Rally for students. Students are encouraged to dress up in outfits from their favorite decade to help celebrate.

We will now have Chick Fil A Biscuits for sale on Wednesday mornings. Biscuits are $4 each, cash only. We will begin sales at 7 and sell until we are sold out. Money earned helps to support incentives for our staff and students. Thank you for supporting YGES!

This week, we took the AR trophy back from Cherokee Elementary. Students earned over 300 points in just 2 school days last week. WOW!!!!! Mrs. Armer's class had the highest amount of points last week and they are keeping the trophy safe this week. Will we keep the trophy next week? READ READ READ!!!!!

Congratulations to our Staff of the month for September, Mr. D, and October, Matt Bentley. Both of these men go above and beyond daily to help students and staff have a wonderful day. We are so thankful for their presence and leadership in our school.
