School-Based Licensed Therapists

At Polk School District, we are committed to supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of all students. We understand that mental health plays a critical role in student success, and we strive to ensure that students have access to the resources they need in a safe, confidential, and supportive environment.

As part of our Wraparound Services, Polk School District offers free access to licensed clinical therapists at all campus locations. These professionals provide on-site mental health support to help students navigate emotional challenges that may impact their learning and overall well-being.

How Our Therapy Services Work

Our licensed clinical therapists offer a range of services tailored to meet the unique needs of each student. Therapy sessions are conducted during the school day, making it easier for students to receive care without concerns about transportation, scheduling conflicts, or financial barriers.

Services Provided:

Individual Therapy Sessions – One-on-one counseling for students experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, or other emotional challenges.
Group Counseling – Small-group sessions focusing on social skills, emotional regulation, conflict resolution, and resilience-building.
Crisis Intervention – Immediate support for students in distress or facing urgent mental health concerns.
Behavioral and Emotional Support – Guidance for students struggling with behaviors that impact their academic and social success.
Collaboration with Families & School Staff – Resources and support for parents, guardians, and educators to help meet student needs.
Referrals for Additional Support – If a student requires more intensive services, therapists can help connect families with outside community resources.

Requesting Therapy Services

Students can be referred for services by a parent, guardian, school counselor, teacher, or other school staff member. Additionally, students may self-request services through their school counselor. However, a parent or guardian must provide signed consent before any therapy services can begin.

All referrals and service requests are handled through the counseling office at the student’s respective school. The school counselor will coordinate with a licensed therapist to ensure students receive the appropriate support.

Why School-Based Therapy Matters

  • Convenience – Services are provided on campus during school hours, eliminating the need for off-site appointments.

  • No Cost to Families – Therapy services are completely free for all Polk School District students.

  • Early Intervention – Addressing mental health concerns early leads to better academic performance, improved relationships, and emotional well-being.

  • Stronger School & Community Support – Our therapists work closely with school staff and families to provide a comprehensive, student-centered approach to success.

At Polk School District, we believe that every student deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. By providing free access to licensed clinical therapists, we are ensuring that students receive the mental health support they need to succeed.
