Office of Academic and Behavior Supports
Welcome to the website for the Office of Academic and Behavior Supports, where our commitment is to provide comprehensive and inclusive services that foster the academic and behavioral success of all students in Polk School District. Our office is home to several critical departments that work together to ensure every student receives the support they need to thrive:
· Interventions: Focused on providing targeted academic and behavioral interventions to students who may need additional support to succeed in the classroom. This is referred to as Georgia’s Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (GaMTSS).
· Remedial Education Programs (6-12): Designed to assist middle and high school students in need of additional academic support. This department provides targeted remediation to help student close achievement gaps and reach grade level standards in math and reading.
· Behavior Supports: Offering strategies and resources to promote positive behavior and social-emotional growth, creating a safe and supportive learning environment for all.
· Section 504: Ensuring that all students with disabilities receive the accommodations and modifications necessary for equal access to educational opportunities, in compliance with Section 504 federal regulations.
· Exceptional Student Services: Dedicated to serving students with special needs eligible for special education services. This department offers tailored resources and Individualized Education Programs (IEP) to help each child reach their full potential.
· Georgia Bright From the Start Pre-K: Committed to laying a strong foundation for our youngest learners, this department provides high-quality early childhood education that fosters development and prepares children for their educational journey.
