I'm a 6th science teacher at Rockmart Middle. I first attended Georgia Southern University to study geology. In 2004, I took a job as a paraprofessional in Floyd County Schools. I loved working with students with disabilities. I continued this passion working as a paraprofessional in a blended special education pre-kindergarten program. As I worked in this program, I began pursuing my degree in special education at Illinois State University. Upon graduation, I worked at a residential school for students with emotional and behavior disabilities. My first year teaching was in self contained for students with emotional disabilities. I decided to move back to my hometown of Rome, GA to continue my career in education. I worked as a resource, inclusion, and self contained teacher in Rome City Schools. It is great to be able to combine my knowledge of geology and education at Rockmart Middle. Coming from a special education background, I work to find a way for every student to learn. My goal is for all students to be confident and successful through hardwork and independence. I'm very excited for my fourth year at RMS in science. I look forward to the fun adventures the students will have learning about how the Earth changes, rocks, weather patterns, and astronomy!
