Philosophy of Education: Regardless of their background, their learning styles, or their abilities, I believe all students can learn. The pace of learning varies among students, and the depth of understanding will be greater for some students than for others. Some students need more guidance and encouragement; others need to be inspired and challenged. However, I believe all students have the capacity to learn and grow intellectually. As a media specialist, I enjoy helping students locate a good book to read or find information to answer a question, complete a task, or solve a problem. However, my greatest satisfaction is seeing students "light up" when they can do these tasks on their own.

Focus: Students are visiting the media center for storytime and checking out books. Students are learning how to take care of books, how to locate books in the library, and how they can do more than just read and check out books in the media center.

Welcome to Youngs Grove!  I am very excited to be your Media Specialist!  Having taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grades, I am delighted to be at the elementary level.

I graduated from Rockmart High School and then went on to the University of Georgia.  After graduation, I traveled for my sorority and then moved to Japan where I served as a journeyman missionary.  When I returned home, I completed my MBA in International Business at Georgia State University.  In 2013, I completed my EdS in Media and Instructional Technology at the University of West Georgia.

My husband Rick and I have two children.  Our daughter Janae is a sophomore at Georgia Tech, and our son Parker is a sophomore at Rockmart High School. A few summers ago, we enjoyed a wonderful mission trip to the Philippines with a brief stop in Japan to see some of my friends on our way home. (The photo at the top was taken on a rainy day at Mt. Fuji!) We love football and enjoy cheering for the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturdays (and Georgia Tech, now too!) and the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday afternoons.  We love living in Polk County and enjoy being members at Victory Baptist Church.
