Welcome to Mrs. Scott's Class

I am a 1997 Graduate of Rockmart High School.  I graduated from North Georgia College and State University in 2001 with a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education/Athletic Training, and from Nova Southeastern Univeristy in 2004 with Master's Degree in Educational Technology.  I recieved my national certification and state certification  as an athletic trainer in 2001.  I worked as an Athletic Trainer at Rockmart High School for several years before entering the GA TAPP program to gain my certification in education.  In 2007, I obtained my teaching certification in Middle Grades Science, and in 2010, I added Middle Grades Math and gifted endorsement.  In 2013, I earned certification for high school science.  I have taught all levels of learner, as well as each grade level offered at Rockmart Middle School.

I am married to Coach Archie Scott, who also teaches and coaches at RMS.  We have 2 children, Emma (11) and Will (7).

My educational philosophy is based on the principal that no one rises to low expectations.  I believe that a teacher is there not only as a facilitator, but to help students achieve their potential and beyond, pushing them to be the best they can be.  By creating a safe, positive environment where failures are buit upon and successess are celebrated, students learn to take risks and strive to attain goals.  This is what many need to succeed at the next level, grade, or in life as a whole.  Many students are suprised what they can accomplish if teachers always expect more.  My belief is that students need to take ownership and pride in what they do every day!
