My philosophy of teaching is to engage students to the level where they make connections between themselves, education, and the world of work. I want every student to know that they are capable of achieving their dreams and I want to help students reach their potential.  I believe teaching employablity skills is highly important and I will provide the students with many opportunities to  learn about work ethics, employability skills, and current events in the work world so that they may be better able to make wise decisions and plan for their future.

My goal is to help the students answer the following 3 important questions:

Who am I? (Self Knowledge)

Where am I going? (Educational and Career Exploration)

How am I going to get there? (Planning/Management)

Computers are integrated into the Career Development curriculum on a daily basis in order to develop the technology skills necessary for employment in today's world.   I am also responsible for making sure that every student in our school meets the requirements of the Bridge Act.   Every student will have a portfolio in GaFutures.org will use GaFutures to take assessments and research Jobs/Careers and Post Secondary Options.

I have worked as a School Counselor for 16 years and have been with Polk School District since the school opened in 2007. I have always had an interest in helping others and learning about how the human brain functions. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Florida State University. I obtained my Master's degree in Counseling & Psychology from Troy State University.  Additionally, I pursued a program that focused on brain-based learning and received a Specialist degree in Instructional Leadership from Nova University.

I am married to Chase and I am a mom of two boys.  My oldest son Trace is attending University of Massachusetts Boston and served in the US Army. My youngest son, Kason, is in 6th grade at RMS. Most of our time outside of school revolves around sports, outdoor activities, and spending time with family and friends.
