Biography

Welcome to Northside Elementary School! I am Amanda Hendrix, the media specialist. This is my twenty first year in education. I am a native of Carrollton, Georgia. My husband, Scott and I have been married for 24 years. We have two sons: Landon, 21 and Grant, 16. I earned a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and received my gifted certification from Valdosta State University. I obtained my Master's degree in Media and Technology from Jacksonville State University. In 2009, I received a Specialist degree in Instructional Leadership from Nova University. I consider the opportunity to serve the community of Cedartown and its youth a great honor!

Philosophy

A library media center is a learning hub and the heart of a school. I believe a media program must foster a community of collaboration, learning, and love of literacy. A library media center is a place where students can explore literature, expand their imagination, research topics of interest and develop an appreciation for all genres. The learning climate of a library media center is conducive to all learning styles and provides equal access to all stakeholders. A library media specialist serves as a resource for students, teachers and the community. Additionally, a media specialist works collaboratively with all stakeholders to empower students in becoming lifelong learners, responsible citizens and industrious problem solvers.

Teaching is an honorable and rewarding occupation. I believe teachers are role models and mentors for students. As teachers, we have the opportunity to aid students in growing into extraordinary people. Students are the future of our society; therefore, it is essential for teachers to educate, motivate and inspire all students to aim high and be the best.
