Welcome to our CMS Media Center Online Classroom Website
My name is Laura Lee Gray Cox. I am a 1994 graduate of Cedartown High School and lifelong Cedartown resident. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Middle Grades Education from the State University of West Georgia and a Master of Science Degree in Library Media & Technology from Jacksonville State University. I began my teaching career at Haralson County Middle School in Tallapoosa, Georgia in 1999 where I taught 6th Grade for five years. In 2004, I transferred to Cedartown Middle School where I taught two years 7th Grade and four years 6th Grade English Language Arts. In 2010, I moved to Youngs Grove Elementary where I taught English Language Arts to 5th Grade students. In 2015, I happily transferred back to Cedartown Middle School to be the Media & Technology Specialist. I am also a proud Sponsor of the CMS National Junior Honor Society and the CMS Reading Bowl Coach.
I am married to my middle school sweetheart, Jason Cox. We currently live in Cedartown with our four wonderful cat children: Bobby, Chauncho, Lil'Un, and Simon. My parents are Greg and Brenda Gray, and I have one younger brother named Davy who is married to Jolee with two amazing children, Ramplee (17) and Bex (11). I plan to continue working with elementary/middle grades until retirement and then move with my husband to Key West, Florida and live happily ever after.
My philosophy of teaching is that all students will become confident, respectful, compassionate, successful, life-long learners when educated, challenged, and enlightened in a safe, nurturing, supportive, positive, interactive environment. I feel that it is my professional responsibility, as well as my personal life goal, to facilitate and foster this environment in my classroom, media center, school, and community.
