The 2014-15 school year marks my 29h year teaching for the Polk School District. I completed my Bachelor's Degree at Jacksonville State University. I received my Master's Degree and Educational Specialist Degree from Berry College. I obtained certification in Administration and Supervision from the University of Alabama and I hold a gifted endorsement. I am completing my dissertation and will obtain my Doctoral Degree in Teacher Leadership from Walden University this school year. I have taught kindergarten, third grade, and gifted classes.
I am married to Martin West. Martin teaches fourth grade math and science at Westside. We have four children. Josh (24), Betenia Faith (9), Simon (8),and Oliver (6) Betenia, Simon, and Ollie are all students at Westside. Josh and his wife Lacey blessed me with a grandchild in 2012. My grandson Koby is 2 years old. We also have two four-legged babies, Phoebe (a cocker spaniel) and Fancy (a Yorkshire Terrier).
My family and I are members of the First Baptist Church of Cedartown. I serve on the Music Council and as the director of the Music Makers Choir. I also am a member of the Adult Ensemble and Sanctuary Choir. Martin and I teach Sunday School in the Preschool Department. I am an Associate Member of the Cedartown Junior Service League.
During the past two school years I was fortunate enough to sponsor a trip to Washington,DC and Orlando for all the gifted students at Westside. Plans are being made for another awesome trip this spring. Where will we go? Information coming soon!
