Hi! My name is Jennae Elder, and I teach Business and Computer Science. I currently co-teach with the Career teacher, Mr. Little. We teach in a computer lab with 60 Dell computers. We have fully integrated both of the standards for these two classes into our curriculum. We have created all of our lesson plans and projects to include both of the Georgia Performance Standards from each subject area. Each of our project's worksheets include the standards covered for each subject, the essential questions, and step by step directions for each activity. Students a Cedartown Middle School are getting extra technology skills because computers are integrated into Career Curriculum. We are also responsible for making sure every student in our school meets the requirments of the Bridge Act. Each student will have a portfolio in the Georgia Career Information System (GCIS) to ensure the the requirements are met for each grade level.
I believe that each student has the ability to learn and be productive citizens of our community.
Did you know that most people lose their job because of bad employability skills? Employers want their employees to have good time management skills, work easily with others, have good verbal and written communication, exhibit initiative and problem solving skills just to name a few. Our students created a PowerPoint Presentation on Employablity Skills that identified bad work ethics and solutions to the problem. To assess student's understanding of the standard, each created a comic strip on a Work Ethics topic of their choice using a program called Pixton. Pixton is an online comic strip generator that allows our students to show their creativity while creating awesome comics!
