Hello and welcome to my online classroom!

My name is Mrs. Kristen Miller. I teach English Language Arts to the 4th grade students at Cherokee Elementary School. This is my 10th year as a teacher, all of which have been at Cherokee Elementary. My educational background includes a B.S. in Education with a concentration in Early Childhood Education and a M.S. in Education with a concentration in Elementary Reading and Literacy.

I have been married to my husband, Chris Miller, for 10 years now. We have a precious little girl, Kinley, who is a first grade student here at CES. Our family also includes two "furbabies", Breckenridge and Aspen.

I sincerely am excited for a new school year and I am so thankful that you are sharing your child with me!

My Philosophy of Education

I believe education should be something that excites and sparks interest in little growing minds. It is my opinion that educators should facilitate and allow children to discover their own answers, all the while being guided with strategies that help them grow into young adults who crave to know more. I also believe in a classroom where students learn by helping each other, teaching each other, and putting their hands on various activities that reach each individual. Since every student’s personality, background, culture, and preference differ so much, I know that I must have various teaching styles throughout any given school day.

Although everyone knows that students are at school to learn, I truly believe that feeling loved and supported is just as important in a young child’s development. I try to make my classroom a home where each child feels respected, cared for, and challenged. My hope is that each child feels exactly that when they enter and exit my classroom each day.
