McKinney –Vento Program

The McKinney- Vento Program is offered to all students enrolled in the Polk County School District who meet the definition of "homeless" established by the McKinney – Vento Act.

What qualifies a child as homeless?

-If the child is in a temporary living arrangement

-If the child is living with a family member who is not the legal guardian of the child

-If the home provided to the child is not under the name of the legal guardian

- If the child is living in a "doubled-up" situation, where there are two or more families living together

-If a child is considered as an "Unaccompanied Youth"

What support can a child receive through McKinney-Vento?

-School Supplies

-School Clothing

- Free/Reduced Lunch


-Medical Emergencies or Assistance

- Tutoring (times and services differ per school)

- Help receiving or paying for certain legal documentation needed for the child

Additionally, I can assist by coordinating with local and government programs that assist with other areas such as: Medicaid, Food Stamps, and shelters.
