Educational Philosophy

Basically I think that all education is good. Some education can be quick and some can be slower but it is all valuable.

Here at CHS each student is valued and can be taught something almost every day. Most days it is academics but sometimes the life lessons are more valuable and often those lessons are more readily received by students.

Education is a two way street. The instructor and the learner both have their parts to play and without both doing their parts nothing will be gained. I expect all my students to be present and to do their best every day. I will do so also.

Math is hard .......until you understand it. Simply working problems to gain a solution can be valuable but the learning only takes place when one knows WHY the processes of math are applied to each and every problem. Everybody has what psychologists call "number sense" but some people have it developed to a higher level than others. Research has shown that the best way to increase one's understanding of numbers and their use is to practice with numbers in every form. So we do.

Have a great numbers filled day,
