• Alert: Polk School District has been monitoring the condition of the roads all afternoon and evening. We have been in constant contact with public works, 911, and the Polk School District Transportation Department, and will continue to do so through the early morning hours. Due to the possibility of the roads in many parts of the county already unsafe or will become unsafe for school transportation, we will be delaying school tomorrow by two hours. The delay will allow our buses to pick up students during daylight hours. Good road visibility will be necessary for drivers to determine whether the use of an alternate road on their route would be a safer option for our students when they encounter an excess of water on the road. Should conditions worsen throughout the night, we will make a school closing determination by 6:00 am. This announcement will be provided through the various media outlets, including the PSD Facebook page, Website, Reminds, and One Call Now phone system.

DNA vs RNA

10/17/16 Monday:

1. Students complete a Vocabulary Keynote & GO with a partner.  *per teacher instructions

2. Teacher led instruction on DNA notes, teacher will hand out notes. If you are/were absent, you will use DNA Keynote to complete the DNA student notes.

3. Amoeba sisters DNA vs RNA video, QR code on door, get GO from teacher (start on No 1 on GO); can finish as HW

 

10/18/16 Tuesday:

1. Students will look at the**DNA Keynote from yesterday (see link above) and fill in anything that they missed from teacher led instruction, then turn your notes in to teacher

2. Students will use the RNA keynote to complete the RNA student notes.  Use Metamoji notes lite.

3. Students will complete a hands on DNA activity which involves answering, labeling and coloring DNA.  Finish as HW.

 

10/19/16 Wednesday:

PSAT Testing

1. Students will finish any incomplete notes; DNA or RNA

2. Students will work on their DNA color / label activity

Define the word Apprise and use it in an example or a proper sentence. TPS/WGS

1. Students will use the DNA Translation Keynote to complete the DNA Translation notes.  Use Metamoji notes lite.

2. Students will complete a Transcription - Translation paper lab handed out by teacher. *If paper copies are needed, a student can ask to go to Dr. Harvey's room and get a set for class.

Apprise me of three things you learned today about the process of translation. TPS/WGS

1. If students didn't finish the notes, they will complete the DNA Translation Keynote to complete the DNA Translation notes.  Use Metamoji notes lite.

2. Students will FINISH and turn in the Transcription - Translation paper lab (here & handed out by teacher.  Anything not turned in must be completed as HW to get a grade for it.

3. HW - complete the DNA Replication STUDY GUIDE to prepare for the test on Friday, 28th.

2. HW - students will work in groups of 2 to 3 to complete the DNA Replication STUDY GUIDE from Oct 25th & RNA Transcription/Translation STUDY GUIDE to review for the test on Friday, 28th.  Turn both in to Showbie.

ACTIVATOR:  Quick Review: Dr. Harvey or Ms. Smith will come over and review with you shortly.  Look over your study guides while waiting.

1. Students will take a DNA to Protein Synthesis test.  Put your name, date, period, DNA test on the scantron.

2. When students finish the test they will complete a Meiosis "Deconstruct the Standard".

3. When students finish number 2, they will complete the Meiosis Vocabulary GO; finish as HW if necessary.
