Hello! My name is Julie Redden and this is my second year at CMS and I am so excited to be serving as a school counselor here. Before coming to work at CMS, I spent 6 years at Northside Elementary as a school counselor.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of West Georgia, a Masters of Education in School Counseling from the University of West Alabama and my Specialist in School Counseling from UWA. I started my career in education at Purks Middle School teaching SEBD for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students in 1999. I then served as the director of Worldview Preschool and Childcare center for five years. I took a small hiatus from education when I ventured into the field of social work as an investigator for the Department of Family and Children Services. However; I was very happy to get back into the field of education when I accepted the job of school counselor in 2012.
I have been married to my high school sweetheart Shane for almost 26 years and we have three beautiful children together. Nick is a graduate of UGA (GO DAWGS!) and is currently working in Atlanta as a mechanical engineer, Trey is a freshman at Kennesaw State and Emily is a 12th grader at CHS. We also have a Miniature Schnauzer named Brady, a Lab named Lola, an English Shepherd named Kenna and we just inherited a small terrier mix named Maggie. I enjoy traveling and spending time with my friends and family and I love to read and watch movies. Going to a CHS football game is one of my favorite ways to kick off the weekend.
I am looking forward to this school year. We have many fun and exciting activities planned for you!
