Welcome to my page! My name is Jessie Stephens and this is my 13th year teaching. I taught 12 years in Floyd County in grade PreK, Kindergarten, and First. This is my eighth year teaching PreK; my second year being at Cherokee Elementary School!

I am married and we have been blessed with a sweet son who is 7! My interests and hobbies include being with family and friends, church, enjoying the outdoors with our dog Captain, being at my son's ballgames, traveling, going to the lake, gardening, raising chickens, and riding ATV's!

I believe that all children are special and unique. They all learn at a different pace. This year, students will learn that it's okay to make mistakes. Mistakes only mean we are learning and that's what erasers are for! They will learn to believe in themselves and have courage and bravery to try new things.

Skills we will focus on throughout the year include, but not limited to, : letter recognition and identification, listening, language, and literacy. We will also focus on counting to 20, sorting, making patterns, and graphing data. Students will be able to use critical thinking skills for problem solving, observing, and recording their observations. We will work on following rules such as being safe, responsible, and respectful. Fine motor skills such as holding a pencil, handwriting, cutting with scissors, buttoning, zipping, snapping, opening packages while eating, etc. And many, many more fun and exciting things!!!
