Hello and welcome to my online classroom!

My name is Mrs. Mary Kathryn Smith. I am so excited to be a member of #TeamCherokee! This is my twelfth year teaching and I'm very excited to continue my journey as the art teacher at CES!!! 

My husband Ryan and I have two daughters and two sons who are the light of our life and the joy of our world! Our family also includes Tillery, our wild and crazy dog! 

I'm also an Apple Teacher (Apple Teachers are recognized for their understanding of how to use Apple products for teaching and learning. They have proven knowledge of using iPad, Mac, and built-in apps to enhance productivity and inspire creativity in their classrooms and beyond. Apple honors their achievement and commitment to creating the very best learning experiences for students.) I want all of my students to understand the value of education and love it like I do, therefore I feel that it is very important that I lead by example.

We will have fun in our class, you'll learn all of the art content you're supposed to, and hopefully you'll also learn to be confident, well-rounded individuals and productive citizens through the experiences we will have as students, friends, and even family. I believe in a kinesthetic approach to education. Learning isn't effective for most students from solely lecturing. It is my goal to appeal to all of your various and distinct ways of learning through a variety of classroom experiences and techniques. Your success and confidence is my number-one goal. 

I can't wait to get to know and teach each of you. Being your teacher is one of the greatest responsibilities I have and watching you grow as students and people is such a joy. Again, welcome to our class.
