Mrs. Megan NeSmith

WELCOME TO MY ONLINE CLASSROOM!

My name is Mrs. Megan Nesmith. I am a Special Education teacher here at CES. This is my 5th year teaching and my second year at Cherokee Elementary School. During my time teaching,

I have a large family that includes my husband, Justin, daughters (Henlee, Ella, and Emma) who all attend CES, son (Matthew), and three dogs. I have lived in Cedartown my entire life and could not be happier to serve my community through education.

I look forward to working with each and every one of your students this year!

My Philosophy

I believe that each and every student has the potential to achieve his or her goals, and my job as an educator is to help them get there. While education is one of the most valuable assets a person can possess, I believe that a good teacher has to go beyond educating students. These kids are learning to live and function in today's society, and we have the amazing opportunity to facilitate the growth of their minds as well as their character. In my opinion, learning starts with loving your students and mutual respect.

I believe that in today's technological world, teachers have the tools to measure student growth, success, and plan instruction with greater intention than ever before. I believe that every piece of data,  from what the student is interested in to what percentile they scored within on a standardized test, should be used to drive lesson plans and instruction. When students are interested and appropriately challenged, magic happens!

Our kids are our future. It is our job to model good citizenship, kindness, and work ethic. That is my goal every single day as students enter my classroom.
