All About Me
Hi! My Name is Katie Garmon, and this is my 10th year of teaching. I taught Pre-K for three years and 2nd grade for three years. This is my fourth year teaching first grade at Cherokee Elementary.
I am originally from Tallapoosa. I now live in Cedartown with my husband, our seven year old daughter, Rylee, and our four year old daughter, Avery. When I'm not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading, shopping, crafting, and going new places.
My Philosophy of Education
I am very passionate about teaching young children. I strive each and every day to ensure that all of my students are provided with quality instruction that meets all of their unique needs. I work to create a learning environment that motivates and inspires my students to do their absolute best, the sky is the limit. I believe it is necessary for my classroom to be a respectful, nurturing, and structured environment in order for all of my students to feel important, loved, and successful. I also feel it is important to build a classroom community where students learn to work collaboratively with others and my students' families feel welcomed and valued. It is my job as an elementary school teacher to provide my students with a strong social and academic foundation. To me, this job as a teacher is more than just a job; it is a profession that can alter the lives of children.
Teachers affect eternity; no one can tell where their influence stops.
~Henry Brooks Adams
Students don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.
