Mrs. Shelly Bentley
Hi, I am Shelly Hooper Bentley, and this is my twenty-eighth year teaching, with twenty-two of them being here at Cherokee Elementary. I have experence teaching all grades Pre-K through 5th. I am a 1989 graduate of Cedartown High School. In 1994, I graduated from the University of West Georgia with an Early Childhood and Learning Disabilities Degree. In 1999, I graduated with a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education and Certification in (ESOL) English as a Second Language. I am married and have two beautiful daughters. My hobbies include photography, lake life, Georgia football, and listening to music.
My Philosophy of Education is that every child should feel safe and comfortable in my classroom. My classroom should be an environment full of nuturing and enriching experiences. Students should feel that school is more than just learning; it is a place where they can come for guidance, structured routine, and feel loved.
Learning should be fun and exciting and the central focus of the school day. My classroom should be an inviting place for students, parents, and peers. My hope is that children will leave my classroom with a sense of accomplishment while feeling successful, challenged, and loved just by being themselves.
