This is my 25th year in education and my 13th year in administration. I taught one year in Agawam, Massachusetts and two years in Bentonville, Arkansas before moving back to Georgia. I spent the next thirteen years with Cartersville City Schools before moving back to Polk County. This is the start of my 6th year as principal at Eastside with nine years total with PSD. I am a 1994 Cedartown High School graduate and I’m excited to be back as part of this great community.
Jennifer and I have been married for eighteen years and I have one dog, three brothers and sisters-in-law, and some amazing nieces and nephews. I love working with children, and in my spare time, I enjoy sports, traveling, reading, and working in my yard.
Mrs. Hyde
Hello there! My name is Melanie Hyde, and I am the Assistant Principal here at Eastside! This is my 18th year in education and 2nd year serving in PSD. My educational experience includes teaching at the elementary level and administration. I hold a M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education (KSU), an Ed.S. in Curriculum and Instruction (Piedmont), an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership (UWG), and am currently enrolled with KSU again for my Ed.D. in the area of Educational Leadership for Learning. I am also gifted certified and have a Reading endorsement.
I am happily married to my husband Blake for 17 years. We have three very spoiled fur babies. Baxley Bleu and Bailey Bear are maltipoos and the boys of the family. Millie Mae, a goldendoodle, recently joined us and is such a sweet and energetic girl! I enjoy spending my time with family, reading, strolling through a good antique or TJ Maxx franchise store, relaxing by the pool, and gardening.
I am passionate about creating a positive climate and culture through building relationships with parents, staff, students, and community members. I look forward to meeting and working alongside each of you that make up our amazing Eastside family. If you need anything, please do not hesitate to contact me through the front office. Go Jackets!!
