Hi! My name is Jordan Atkins, and I teach Middle Grades AgriScience. Agriculture Education is an introduction to the fundamental principles of scientific agriculture.  The course introduces the major areas of agricultural production, introductory skills in knowledge in agricultural science, and agri-related technologies. Students will also be introduced to studies in leadership skills through the FFA, basic horticultural practices, forestry/natural resources, basic animal science, careers in agriculture as well as an introduction to the AgriScience. Students will have opportunities to compete regionally in Land Judging, Cattle Show Team, Meat ID, Environmental Natural Resources, Ag Technology and Equipment ID, and many more.

I am excited about this opportunity to share my knowledge in the field of agriculture with the students at Cedartown Middle School.

My Philosophy: I strongly believe the key to student learning begins with a teacher who cares and motivates the students. Students must believe in themselves in order to become successful learners. My motto is "If a student believes then he/she can achieve!" In order for students to become successful, it is imperative to create lessons that are developmentally appropriate. I aspire to recognize the uniqueness of each student and his/her educational needs. Learning each student's strengths and weaknesses through assessments and observations allows me to differentiate individual instruction. I feel it is necessary to provide learning experiences that meet all learning modalities. In addition, all students benefit from multisensory learning experiences. Most importantly, I make learning exciting and fun! I encourage the development of skills like integrity, honesty, responsibility, cooperation and patience. It is a privilege to be a part of molding your child and motivating him/her to become a lifelong learner. I believe that it takes a team to educate children: the students, the parents, the staff, the administration, the teachers, and the community. I look forward to working with everyone to make this a great year.
