My name is Becky Powell.

I will be beginning my 29th year of teaching. I taught third grade for three years, sixth grade for three years, and fourth grade for twenty years at Piedmont Elementary School. I have taught third grade for two years at YGES and will be teaching fourth grade ELA this year.

"My philosophy of education is that all children are unique and must have a stimulating educational environment where they can grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially.  It is my desire to create this type of atmosphere where students can meet their full potential.  I will provide a safe environment where students are invited to share their ideas. I believe the teacher's role is to act as a guide. Students need to have access to hands-on activities and a should be able to have choices and let their curiosity direct their learning. Students need the opportunity to practice skills in a safe environment.
