Degrees and Certifications:
I graduated from Jacksonville State University with a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education.
Mrs. Sonya Morrow
My name is Sonya Morrow.
I taught kindergarten for the past 26 years. Eight of those years were in Alabama, six at Lumpkin County, and 12 have been here in Polk County. I obtained my ESOL endorsement in 2018. This will be my second year teaching ESOL and my 8th year at Youngs Grove. I am married to Terry Morrow. We have three sons Mitchell, Payton, and Jake.
ESOL is an acronym that stands for English to Speakers of Other Languages. My goal is to make your child's experience in ESOL fun and meaningful while teaching them the skills they need to advance their proficiency in the English language. Our focus will be listening, speaking, reading and writing skills as well as vocabulary development.
I believe that it is my job to establish a classroom community where all students feel valued and are able to express themselves in their own unique ways. I strive to provide a positive classroom environment where students are praised for following expectations and for being responsible learners. I set high expectations for all of my students and instill that with hard work and perseverance, anything is possible.
I am very excited to get the school year started and see all of the success each child makes.
