Hello! My name is Anessa Mize and I am very excited to be teaching 5th Grade Social Studies and Science at Youngs Grove Elementary.  This is my 7th year teaching at Youngs Grove.  Even though this school year will be a little different, we will still have a lot of fun learning in 5th grade this year!  The next few months are sure to be busy as we explore and grow together. 

I am a native of Marietta, GA but have lived in Polk County for the past nineteen years.  My husband and I have 2 children (a son who is freshman this year at Kennesaw State University and a daughter going into 11th grade), 2 dogs (a black lab named Jasmine and a Dalmatian named Emerson), 2 cats (Rocket and Luna), 2 ducks, and 2 turtles.  I worked for Polk School District for the six years before deciding to pursue my dream of becoming a teacher.

I know you are going to enjoy this year!  We will be learning many new things and you will be making many new friends.  Please talk to me if you have something to share, if you don’t understand something, or if you are ever upset.  I think you’ll find I’m a good listener.
