Welcome to my webpage! I am Amy Davenport, and I have been teaching in Polk County for 28+ years. I have spent most of my years teaching at the middle school level, but I've also taught several years at the elementary level as well.

I am certified to teach pre-k,  elementary, middle, and gifted education.  I teach the gifted classes at Westside, and I am looking forward to returning for upcoming school year. 

I am married to Jimmy Davenport. I am the mother of three, and I am " Mammy"  to four grandchildren.  My oldest daughter, Jean Marie, is a graduate of the University of Alabama.  She is married, a mom to Maston,Miles, and Murphy, teaches at Eastside, and she is the football/competition cheer coach for RHS. My youngest daughter, Whitney, is also a graduate of the University of Alabama. She is married,  lives in Alabama, and is a mom to Faires James.  My son, Duane, graduated from the University of Alabama in August. I bet you can guess that as a family, we are avid Crimson Tide fans!  We love to go to the football games on Saturdays and yell "Roll Tide"!

I am extremely excited to be at Westside as the PEP teacher. In my classes, students will be introduced to a rigorous learning environment to challenge and enhance their learning.  Students will continue to develop critical thinking skills, as well as reading, writing, speaking/listening, and  technology skills.  Students will also have the opportunity to attend field trips which correlate with the curriculum the gifted/PEP program will be offering this year. Students can expect an atmosphere that promotes positive learning experiences to help them become highly productive, successful people in a technology driven world.
