Hello and Welcome to my online classroom! My name is Melissa Turner and I am very excited to be teaching Special Education Inclusion and Resource.

Although this will be my sixth year teaching, I spent 8 1/2 years as a paraprofessional, with 7 1/2 of them in a self contained classroom, for Polk School District.   

On a personal note, I have a wonderful family.  My husband, David, and I just celebrated our 16 year anniversary.  We have two grandsons, Zander (4) and Everett (5 months). Being a mother is awesome but nothing compares to being a "Mimi". 

I feel that it is important for you and I to work together as a team to ensure that your child has a successful school year. Communication is the key to ensure this success!  I hope to be communicating with you through phone calls, notes and conferences.  Please feel free to contact me at any time with any questions or concerns you may have. 

I am looking forward to an awesome year with an amazing group of students.  We will have lots of fun as we work to build better students one subject at a time.  

Educational Philosophy

I believe that life is all about gaining knowledge and sharing what we have learned with others. I feel that education is a lifelong process and the building blocks of learning are developed in the early stages of life. The early years of elementary school are one of the first places that the building blocks of learning are established.  Being a teacher allows me the honor to be a part of someone's lifelong educational journey.
