From the desk of Superintendent, Dr. Katie Thomas:
Based on the Administrative Order issued by the Department of Public Health (DPH) on August 2, 2021, and in an effort to continue facilitating in-person learning, Polk School District will NOT issue mandated precautionary quarantines to students or staff found to be in close wontact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, as long as the point of exposure occured in the school setting and they remain asymptomatic. When school administration is informed of a positive case among students ot staff, they will notify any affected individual/parents. This notification will emphasize the importance of the need to monitor for symptoms, but no precautionary quarantines will be required.
Students or staff that are found to be in close contact (within six feet for fifteen minutes or more) with someone that has tested positive for COVD-19 OUTSIDE of the school setting will be required to quarantine based on DPH guidance, unless they have been fully vaccinated AND remain asymptomatic.
Polk School District will consistently monitor the COVID-19 weekly data and make adjustments as needed for the health and safety of all of our staff and students.
*Polk School District continues to encourage vaccinations for those eligible.
