As Robert John Meehan said, "Every child has a different learning style and pace. Each child is unique, not only capable of learning but also capable of succeeding." Every child IS different and special. I believe all students can learn and be successful if they are provided with an environment conducive to their needs. I feel they need to be provided with challenging experiences that push them to be more responsible for their learning. Furthermore, I believe students need love and room to grow and expand. They need to have a place where they can feel safe to be themselves and learn from mistakes without the fear of failure looming overhead. Most of all, kids need an opportunity to just be kids.
This is my 14th year of teaching with thirteen of those years being served within Polk School District. I teach 1st grade Special Education Reading/Language Arts and Math in the inclusion and resource setting. I also co-teach kindergarten Math and 5th grade Language Arts.
I have been married to Tony for 22 years. We have three wonderful children named Alexis (19), Megan (16), and Isaac (14). My husband and I both grew up in Bartow County. However, our home is now in Rockmart. I enjoy riding four wheelers, playing music, watching my children play sports, and traveling.
