Unless specifically authorized or exempted by law, persons may not possess, carry or have within their control any weapon or explosive compound of any kind as defined by Georgia Law O.C.G.A. 16-11-127.1 while on school property, in a building attending a school function or on a school bus.  In accordance to O.C.G.A 16-11-129, a person who possess a valid Georgia Weapons Carry License (GWCL) and in possession of a weapon, may travel through a school safety zone while dropping off or picking up a student. This refers to “curb side only”. O.C.G.A 16-11-127 requires that firearms and weapons are to be stored in a locked container, compartment or a locked firearm rack in privately owned vehicles parked unattended at any school district facility. No student may possess weapons of any kind as defined by Georgia Law O.C.G.A 16-11-127.1 while on school property, in a school building, attending a school function or on a school bus. Students are subject to criminal and administrative sanctions for violations.
