My Online Classroom contains materials and resources that can be used with speech students. The "classrooms" are divided into the different areas of communication, to make it as easy as possible to access the resources you need.
I also wanted to inform you that we are now able to provide speech/language services virtually using Zoom, in some circumstances; such as extended quarantines and distance learning. During the quarantine, session times will remain the same as if your child were still in school. In this case, you will be provided with a link through your email that includes the scheduled session time.
For those new to Zoom, I have provided parent/caregiver "cheat sheet" link below that explains how to access Zoom and step by step directions. Click the Zoom picture below for the link.
Hi! Welcome to my online classroom! I am a speech language pathologist at Westside Elementary and Cedartown Middle School. I hold a Bachelors and Masters of Education degree in Speech Language Pathology from the University of West Georgia. I also hold a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Lincoln Memorial University. I am beginning my 26th school year with Polk School District. I spent the first 15 years of my career at Northside Elementary, and the past 10 years I have been working at Westside, my elementary alma mater.
I am married to Brian Blankenship, and we have 2 daughters: Maggie and Tori. Maggie is a college student, and Tori attends Cedartown High School. We enjoy shopping, eating out, and traveling together. Our favorite place to visit is the happiest place on Earth- Walt Disney World. We also enjoying watching sports. Two of our favorite teams are the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs. Go Dawgs!
I love my job because I am blessed to work with a wide age range of children. I feel that it is important for every child to be able to effectively communicate with others. I am able to help my students by increasing their ability to communicate with others. In the area of speech language, a child can get assistance if they have difficulty in the areas of articulation, language, voice, or fluency. If you have any questions or concerns about your child's communication skills, please feel free to contact me at 770-748-0831 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
