Welcome to Youngs Grove Elementary School!

Introduction

Thank you for visiting my website! I am your Assistant Principal at Youngs Grove Elementary School and I am honored to be serving our teachers, students, staff, and community in this role. These early years of our students' lives are critical to ensuring that each of their futures are filled with endless possibilities -- I will go above and beyond to ensure that the educational experience our students receive here at The Grove will prepare each of them for the next phases of their lives.

I encourage you to explore the many pages of my website to gain insight into what we are doing here at The Grove to "transform learning" for our 21st century learners of Polk County to meet their unique individual needs. You will also find many other helpful resources and other information of relevance to you and your child's educational experience. Specializations

I specialize in the Common Core Performance Standards and have worked for the three years with Georgia's Department of Education on its implementation of Common Core in Georgia.

I have written curricula and model lessons focused on best practices and mastery of rigorous national standards for Georgia's Department of Education, and I have also conducted professional development centered on Common Core for Georgia's teachers in many local, district, and regional locations across Georgia. My work and student products have been published on the national Common Core website database as model instruction and performance and has been used as building-wide and system-wide instructional models in many school districts in Georgia.

I feel that these invaluable experiences will allow me to ensure that the education students receive here at Youngs Grove Elementary School aligns to the proper standards and expectations of a highly rigorous and interactive curriculum that Common Core intends public schools to deliver.

Philosophy

My personal philosophy as an educator is to deliver a high-quality, rigorous and personalized curriculum to students to prepare them for a highly-competitive world after their tenure in public school concludes.

I want our students to confidently pursue their goals with skills, habits, and knowledge that will allow them to compete successfully in whatever they choose to do, and it is my mission to ensure that this is a possibility through the years that students spend with us here at The Grove. For these early formative years, we must work diligently to personalize our instructional practices and intervene as needed to meet critical needs of elementary students to prevent gaps from forming in their set of skills and abilities. I want to ensure that each student stays on track with goals and standards to open up endless posibilities throughout their journey in Polk School District as well as the world of college and careers after graduation.

Finally, I also believe that 21st century education relies heavily on partnership between home and school as we alone cannot fully prepare students to their lives ahead. We welcome all parents and stakeholders to assist with educating intelligent, responsible, productive citizens to benefit our county and our collective futures.
