Hi. I am excited to join the team here at Northside Elementary School. I graduated from the University of West Georgia with a Bachelors Degree in Art Education. I have been teaching art for 10+ years. While living in Michgan I taught Art at Beaverton Middle School to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. I also taught classes in Ceramics, Paper Mache, Batik, Mixed Media, and Painting to all age levels at the Midland Center for the Arts. Last year I worked with students at Cedartown Middle School. I am excited to be teaching Elementary Grades and am looking forward to the upcoming school year here at NES.
In my spare time I enjoy doing arts and crafts and reading. I also enjoy quilting and sewing and have been working on Art Quilts that I design.
Please feel free to contact me via a phone call or email anytime. My phone is 770-748-4932
Misson Statement/ Philosophy: I want to ensure that my students have a well-rounded, quality education in the arts. I look forward to helping my students get excited about expressing themselves creatively and having fun while learning. Art education gives students a chance to stimulate their imagination, as well as their cognitive and problem solving skills. In the arts, students learn that there is more than one way to compete the art project. They are able to express themselves and their emotions through the artwork. They also have the opportunity to interpret other artworks, from those of their classmates to famous works of art. The open-ended nature of art education allows kids to build a sense of confidence that may carry over to other areas.
