Hi! My name is Mary Ellen Itson. This is my third year as a Special Education teacher and I am so happy to be here at Cherokee Elementary School. I want to do everything possible to help your child succeed in school so they can be better prepared for life in the real world. I have worked in the field of education as an instructional paraprofessional and a special needs paraprofesional for a total of 19 years. I previously worked for Floyd County Schools at Cave Spring Elementary and Alto Park Elementary. I graduated from Covenant College with a Bachlor's Degree in Organizational Management in 2002. I completed my 2nd Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education at Covenant College in 2010. I am certified to teach Early Childhood Education in Pre-K - 5th grade. I also have Certification in Special Education General Curriculum Grades P-12 Consultative and Special Education Math, Reading, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies, Cognitive Level P-5.
My family is my life and I love them so much. I love being a mother of two children and also a grandmother to three grandchildren.
If you have any questions or concerns about you child's progress, please let me know. I will be happy to help.
