Effort Counts.  As humans, we tend to appreciate the things we work hard for.  If it comes easy, it's not valued as much.  The same thing holds true in school.  We tend to feel great about a hard earned C over an easy A.  I will work with anyone who is trying their hardest, but not quite making it.  Effort goes a long way, and is greatly apprreciated.

I moved to Ga in 1980 from Caribou, ME when I was 9yrs old.  My parents were tired of the cold so we swapped sub-artic for sub-tropical. The first week we were down here, it snowed 2 inches and school was called off.  We (my siblings and I) thought this was the greatest place on earth.

In 1989 I graduated from Alexander High School in Douglasville, GA and took a year off.  I went to GA Southern 1990-1992 and then transferred up to GA State 1992-1994.  I decided that restaurant management was a great career and for the next decade and 1/2 worked in Shoneys, and then Folks.

After spending 22yrs working with the general public, I decided I needed a change, something that was more concrete and fulfilling.  I went back to school in 2007 and decided to major in history.  I found out about the TEEMS graduate program, applied, and was ultimately accepted into it.  I graduated in 2010 with a B.A. in History, and then in 2011 with an M.A.T. in Social Studies Education.  I subbed for a few years before being trained in Economics.

In 2015 I was hired at RHS, and in 2016 transferred to CHS where I remain today.  I love the small town atmosphere of Polk County, it reminds me of Douglasville when we first moved down, and I hope to be able to move out here within the next few years.
