Prior to teaching I worked at Cobb County Solicitor General's Office. I began my teaching career in the Polk School District in 2003 at Elm Street Middle School. I am a 2003 graduate of Kennesaw State University with a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Social Science. I obtained my Master's degree in Social Studies from Kennesaw State University in 2009. I teach gifted/advanced social studies. I sponsor the RMS BETA club. I am married and have two daughters. Megan Jane is in 10th grade and Jessica is starting her first year as a third-grade teacher in Savannah.
The best teachers are those that never stop learning and continue striving to improve. It is important to realize that teaching is full of surprises and new situations and one must be ready to adapt, react and discover new strategies. What remains true, it is the necessity to create a meaningful learning environment and to understand how to relate one’s knowledge to students. My philosophy of teaching is based on a belief that learning needs to be student-centered and that students need to be equal partners in the learning process. My role involves using my expertise to put the necessary resources in the hands of the students or more likely to be sure that my students are well equipped to find and evaluate the resources they need to answer their questions.
