My name is Mr. Ruark and I teach 9th grade Algebra 1 and 10th grade Geometry at Cedartown High School. I graduated with a Bachelors degree in education from Shorter College, and received a Masters degree from the University of West Ga. This year is going to be an eventful and fulfilling year!
Teaching students is not about just content, but teaching students to problem solve, think, and do for themselves.
Students will not just learn math standards, they will learn and teach themselves how to solve and think through problems. In my class students will discover how to think through problems by using math. My students will learn how to follow steps to solve problems, analyze situations and make decisions on what method and process they need in order to work through a discovery task, and students will create their own problems and task using the processes and decision making skills learned in class.
I will use the Remind 101 App to text students and parents about changes in schedules and/or assignments that need to be completed.
