My name is Amy Thompson. I have been a teacher at Northside Elementary School for 20 years. I have previously taught 1st grade, pre-k, 2nd grade, and now 3rd grade. This is the fourth year teaching 3rd grade Math.
After graduating from Cedartown High School, I received my teaching degree from the State University of West Georgia. I have a Masters Degree in Reading from Nova Southeastern University and a Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Lincoln Memorial.
I have been married to my husband, Paul, for 20 years. We have a daughter, Emma, who is a Senior at Cedartown High School this year. When I am not at school, I enjoy sitting around the pool reading a good book.
My Philosophy of Education
I believe that all children have the ability to learn when they are given the opportunity. Children need to have environments where they feel safe and nurtured. Teachers should have high expectations for all students and hold them accountable for their work and their actions. I promise that I will challenge, encourage, and motivate every student that walks into my classroom every day. I feel that students need to be exposed to educational opportunities each day that will help them to succeed in life and to become life long learners. I hope that I never lose focus of the love I have for these students or any of these philosophies.
