Background and Philosophy
I graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education from University of West Georgia in 2000. I taught kindergarten for 6 years in Paulding County. In 2006 I added the special education field to my teaching certificate and began teaching at Northside Elementary. I have taught reading, language arts, and math to students who receive special education services in various grade levels. For 4 years I was the Special Education Lead Teacher at Northside Elementary, Youngs Grove Elementary, Eastside Elementary, and Van Wert Elementary. I now provide special education services to students through the co-teaching model in the classroom. I will be working as a co-teacher alongside general education teachers in the classrooms to provide differentiated instruction to students. My philosophy of education is that everyone has something they're good at and it's important for me as a teacher to help a student find their talents and shine.
I have been married for 17 years to Jason and we have 3 beautiful daughters: Jacey, age 15; Jenna Rose, age 10; and Jillian, age 7. Jacey is the only red head in our family, cheers for the Rockmart High School Football/Competition team and plays the clarinet on the RHS Marching Band. Jenna Rose is spunky, funny, and loves everyone. Jillian is my little helper who is mostly very quiet, but enjoys arguing with her sisters. I am an animal lover and have 2 dogs, a cat, and 3 fish. I hate to cook, but love to eat!! Most summer weekends you can find me at Lake Weiss. I like to sit around a campfire roasting marshmallows and sharing stories with my family. I love to vacation with a large group of friends and family and my most favorite place is Disney World.
