My name is Durand Dean. I graduated with a degree in Education from West Georgia College. I later returned to school and received my Masters in Education from WGC and then my Specialist in Education from Jacksonville State University. This year I will be teaching fourth grade ELA. This will be my seventh year in fourth grade and my 28th year in Polk School District! WOW! Where has the time gone? Anyway....Reading is my favorite subject and fourth grade kids are my favorite age group. As a teacher, I love seeing my students grow throughout the year. I think that learning should be challenging, but fun at the same time. I want my students to feel safe and know that they are loved. I want them to feel encouraged to try new things and to improve on old things. I want my students to feel successful in all that they do. We are going to learn so much this year and have so much fun. I am looking forward to getting to know my students!
I thought you might want to know a little about me, so here you go...I am married and my husband's name is Alan. We have one son, Steven, that we are very proud of. Steven and Sage are the proud parents of our beautiful granddaughter, Mary Ann. She will be a year old in December. I am also the dog mom to three fur babies.....Lantern, who is 15, Wilson, who is 8, and Muffin, who is 3! I volunteer with many of our Eastside teachers at the Polk County Animal Shelter and I am a firm believer that pound puppies are the BEST!
This is going to be an awesome year in fourth grade. We have an incredible team of teachers and we are all devoted to making this year the best year ever!
