My name is Rachael Truitt, and I am the Directed Studies teacher at Youngs Grove. I am a native of Thomaston, GA. (. I graduated wtih honors from Upson-Lee High School in 2006. I attended Gordon College in Barnesville, GA before moving to Cedartown. I graduated magna cum laude with an Associate of Science in Early Childhood Education from Georgia Highlands College in 2008 and magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from the University of West Georgia in 2010. I am married to Jeff Truitt. We have two children: Marianne and Davis. I am a member of the Cedartown Kiwanis Club and The Auxillary of the Gideons International, Polk County Camp.
I am blessed to be entering my seventh year of teaching. I began my teaching career in 2010 when I was hired to teach Special Education at Youngs Grove Elementary. I taught fourth grade math for three years. I am so excited to be entering my third year as the Directed Studies teacher. I love teaching Directed Studies because I get to interact with students in different grade levels and learn about them as individuals.
My philosophy of education:
I believe that every child was born with unique gifts and talents. As an educator, I have the task of guiding them in finding out what their gifts are and helping them cultivate their gifts so that they can fulfill their purpose. I believe that education is a journey, not a destination. There is not a point in one's life where one stops learning something new. On any journey, there will always be bumps in the road, detours, and set backs. However, it is my job to help teach the students that perseverance through the hard times makes the success waiting on the other side so much sweeter.
I am looking forward to a wonderful school year!
