My name is Lisa Hayes and I have 28 years experience in education where all but 2 of my years have been in Polk County. I received my undergraduate degree from Auburn University, my Masters from Brenau University, and my Educational Specialist degree from Jacksonville State University. I live in Piedmont, Alabama with my husband and two sons.
My educational philosophy is that all children are capable of learning. Children may not learn at the same pace or with the same methods, but they can all learn if given the right opportunities. I feel that it is my responsibility to create a classroom that encourages children to want to learn, to give children different ways of learning, and to instill in children that it’s ok if they don’t know the answers but to be motivated enough to keep trying until they do. It is my responsibility to determine the best method and strategy to reach each type of learner. I feel that my classroom needs to be an environment where children feel free to express themselves, to not feel judged, and to not be afraid to try. I have to work to build a relationship with each child’s parent that develops into a trust that lets them know that I care about their child and will do anything I can to help them be successful in school and in life.
