Welcome to Second Grade!
Students and Parents,
Hello! My name is Elizabeth Smith and it is my privilege to be teaching your children this year. I have been teaching since 1992 and absolutely love teaching children. We're going to have fun year and might even learn something along the way. When you come into the classroom be ready to learn and get better each day. I'm going to stretch what you think you're capable of learning. My first classroom rule is that students are not allowed to say "I can't."
My teaching career started upon my graduation from The University of Alabama in 1992. After teaching for five years, I completed my Master of Education in early childhood and early childhood special education in 1997. My family moved to Georgia in 2003 where I live with my husband (Reed), 17 year old son (Allen), and our pet cat named Grayson. My daughter, Sara, is a sophomore majoring in accounting, finance, or economics (depending on the day you ask her) at The University of Alabama. I am a huge college football fan. Each Saturday you can find me watching the Crimson Tide. You might also hear me yelling ROLL TIDE!!!
All students can reach their highest potential with a caring teacher who understands that each student learns in their own way. Teaching is a partnership in which I challenge my students with high expectations and then guide them to meet those expectations.
