I am beginning my 24th year of teaching. I taught for 7 years in Alabama, but the last 16 years I have taught at Goodyear/Van Wert Elementary. I still live in Alabama, but make the commute to Van Wert every day. I graduated from Jacksonville State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree in 1993, from Nova Southeastern University with a Master of Arts degree in 2006, and from Nova Southeastern University with an Educational Specialist degree in 2011.
I believe that all children deserve to be taught in the way they learn best. That is why I teach using a variety of activities that help the brain learn; from hands-on, visual, and auditory learning, to an integration of technology. I love learning and try to convey my love of learning to my students to encourage them to be active and life-long learners.
I have one daughter, Megan, who is 27. She is my life and my best friend. She attended Jacksonville State University graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education in English/Literature. She is an English teacher at BB Comer High School. She got married July 18, 2015!! Her husband is Stefan King and he is an assistant manager for Flowers Bread Store.
I love teaching, reading, singing, movies, purple, traveling, chocolate, and ice cream. My favorite authors are Nicholas Sparks, James Patterson, Suzanne Collins, JK Rolling, Marissa Meyers, Mary Downing Hahn, and Margaret Peterson Haddix. I also love Alabama football. Roll Tide!!
Two of my favorite quotes from two amazing women:
"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." Eleanor Roosevelt
"Everything has its wonders, even darkness and silence, and I learn whatever state I am in, therein to be content." Helen Keller
My favorite place...Hawaii!
